#95: Eyla Cuenca

In this eye-opening conversation, Tom speaks with birth and postpartum doula Eyla Cuenca about the hidden crisis in modern birth culture—what happens after the baby is born.

Together, they explore:
  • What a doula really does (and how it differs from midwifery)
  • Why postpartum care is missing from conventional models
  • How birth trauma, tech culture, and convenience parenting disconnect women from their babies
  • The rise of postpartum depression and its real root causes
  • How to support mothers in restoring their intuition, confidence, and bond with their child
  • The importance of inner healing for doulas and mothers alike
  • Why well-baby visits, milestone charts, and feeding schedules may do more harm than good
Eyla also shares details about her postpartum doula training program, which is as much a journey of self-reflection as it is a practical course in mother and baby care.

Wonderful highly intelligent conversation with great content – as for Chest Feeding, I shouldn’t be flabbergasted – thank you

Just a superb conversation! This is needed so much! If I were younger I’d take the training, but I’ll be turning 81 next month! 😉
I had three babies, first one was a hospital birth, second a home birth. My third one was born in the hospital birthing center, simply because my midwife’s back up doctor wouldn’t allow her to help me at home as I was 42 at the time. 🙄 However it went well.

Years ago Jeanice Barcelo wrote an excellent book on the Satanified birthing process. She offers similar insight, information, services. Awareness and alternatives are increasing.
