Gratitude, Clarity, and the Path Back to Real Science: A Thanksgiving Message from Tom
What many people don’t seem to realize is that “science” or maybe better said, employing the scientific method is a normal and natural process that virtually all people from the age of about 3 on use almost every day of their lives. The scientific method is both simple and intuitive. First, one imagines or thinks of a situation or a question. An example might be will I catch more fish if I put a worm at the end of my hook. Then, I generate a hypothesis or a guess as to the answer. In this case, my guess is yes, if I put a worm on my hook I will catch more fish. In technical terms, catching fish is the dependent variable or the effect you are using to test your hypothesis. Putting the worm on the hook is the independent variable or simply the thing you wish to test. Then you run the experiment. Keeping the overall conditions as similar as possible, you fish one morning, hopefully at the same time, same temperature, etc. first with no worm on the hook, then with a worm on the hook. Then you repeat the experiment enough times, so you know you have a clear and consistent, repeatable answer. Then you know, it’s best to use a worm if the goal is to catch fish. We do these kinds of simple experiments all the time. We use the scientific method when we build furniture - does this nail or screw hold better, all other conditions the same than that nail or screw. We use the scientific method in baking bread, again, all the ingredients are the same, does the bread taste better baked at 350 degrees or 450 degrees. The most successful “scientists” are the ones would have successfully ruled out any confounding variables, like maybe it’s the source of the flour or the temperature in the kitchen or the type of wood used to build the furniture. That is what makes life fun and challenging.
Unfortunately, in conventional science, whether it’s physics, biology, medicine, or any other so-called scientific discipline, there is virtually no more science being done. Instead, as we have learned with virology, they claim they have proven the existence of a particle called a virus by assuming it exists and then performing an experiment in which there is no possible way that the experiment could even demonstrate whether a virus even exists. In cardiology, they assume (incorrectly) that blocked arteries cause heart attacks then do an experiment without proper controls to show which drugs have which effects on plaque build-up. In oncology, they assume (again incorrectly) that cancerous growths are caused by errant genes, then they set up an uncontrolled experiment to see which drugs have which effects of these errant genes. This whole endeavor we call modern science was encapsulated in the quote by Tesla:
Today’s scientists have substituted mathematics for experiments, and they wander off through equation after equation, and eventually build a structure which has no relation to reality.
— Nikola Tesla
My dear friends, this is the essence of the problem we have right now. We have had a make-believe world constructed for us which has numerous tragic consequences. One consequence is we forget that we are all “scientists” and fully capable of a lifelong quest to understand the world around us. Another consequence is having wandered off into structures that have no basis in reality; we miss simple remedies for almost all our common maladies. We poison ourselves with toxic vaccines to combat imaginary viruses when all we really needed to do was eat good food, breathe clean air and regularly enjoy the sunshine and nature. We submit to heart procedures like stents and bypasses and toxic pharmaceuticals like statins, all of which have been proven to fail, instead of using the humble seed of the Strophanthus plant as our main heart medicine. And we allow our bodies to be mutilated and poisoned when we are diagnosed with cancer instead of asking what went wrong in our lives.
There are many ways to describe the mission of the Dr. Tom Cowan business and the New Biology Clinic, but one of the best is to restore the fundamental principles of scientific inquiry to its rightful place in our world. We need, urgently, to build a scientifically literate society, and stop this wandering around in the world of make believe. Our “scientists” and doctors have failed in their duties; it’s time for us to let them be. It is our time to shine now and lead the world to a healthy, happy, free world. In this season of giving thanks, I wish to express my deepest gratitude to all those who have joined me and our team on this journey. Together, we can find our way back to our true home.
With gratitude,
Tom
