Healing Properties That You Need This Winter (Burdock Root and Ashitaba)

Posted by Tom Cowan on

Two of our most popular products during the winter months are our ashitaba and burdock root powders. This is with good reason: both of these have amazing healing powers. Below, we've outlined some of their medicinal properties:

Burdock Root:

A prized medicinal food in Asian countries, burdock is known for its blood-cleansing properties, its support for healthy skin and its ability to regulate cell growth.

Ashitaba:

Ashitaba is perhaps one of the most nutrient-dense vegetables on the planet, containing more Vitamin B6 and B12 than your typical green vegetable. Studies indicate that it boosts the "immune system" (detoxification pathways), is diuretic,  and enhances stomach and intestine functions. It also contains rich stores of potassium and manganese, which help ease diabetes, and it stimulates nerve growth factor (NGF), which is a protein that maintains the health connection between neurons and the brain.

It even has the power to rejuvenate your body’s cell properties, and many people claim they look younger after regular consumption of ashitaba.

In addition, the chalcones, a yellow pigment found in the ashitaba stem, is being intensively studied for its cell-regulating (anti-cancer) properties. We take special care to harvest the stems along with the leaves to ensure the best nutrient-phytochemical profile.
